As vice president, chief of staff, Teresa Markowitz assists the office of the president in the daily operations of the Foundation, including coordinating and managing the senior leadership team, acting as a liaison to the president, and staffing the Board of Trustees. In 2001, she was selected for the Foundation’s Children and Family Fellowship. She then served as a special assistant to the president. Prior to joining the Foundation, Teresa was commissioner for children and family services for Kansas, where she helped lead a child welfare system reform effort that changed the way services were delivered and tracked for some of the state’s most vulnerable children and families. She has worked extensively in the mental health field, including managing and operating psychiatric facilities. She received a master of social work degree from the University of Kansas and a B.S. from Emporia State University in Kansas.
