Closing the Achievement Gap Series 
Through its education investments, the Annie E. Casey Foundation helps ensure that young people graduate from school prepared to succeed as adults. The Foundation achieves this by supporting quality school choices and strong connections between schools, families, and communities. Closing the Achievement Gap is a series of stories, results, and lessons learned from seven years of education investing.

Early Childhood and School Readiness
Our vision for early childhood and school readiness is for all families to have high quality, comprehensive, culturally appropriate early childhood services and support—formal and informal—right in their own neighborhoods. Our core objective has been to find the best examples of neighborhood programs that are designed to build the capacity of “informal” early childhood care providers such as family, friends, and neighbors.

Making Connections
Making Connections is Casey’s multi-year, multi-site effort to improve the lives and prospects of families and children living in some of America’s toughest neighborhoods. It is based on the premise that children do well when their families are strong and families do better when they live in supportive communities.
